Cubic Zirconia Facts

Cubic Zirconia is a manmade crystal that is designed to look exactly like diamonds. Jewelry made with this substance tends to be considerably more affordable than jewelry made with diamonds. Some people are under the mistaken impression that you can only get clear jewels made from cubic Zirconia (also known as CZ), but in fact, you can purchase Cubic Zirconia jewelry in a wide variety of different (and incredibly vibrant) colors.
If you are interested in learning about the chemical composition of CZ, it is comprised of yttrium oxide and zirconium oxide. When these to chemicals are mixed together, the result is the crystalline substance known as CZ. To meld the two ingredients properly, the mixture needs to be heated to nearly 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The combined ingredients are then cooled off in particular way to achieve the desired effect.
First invented in the year 1937 by a pair of German scientists, the production system was refined and perfected in the Soviet Union during the 1970s. From that point forward, CZ became a very popular crystal throughout the world. Designers and jewelry manufacturers design and cut Cubic Zirconia in precisely the same manner that they do with diamonds.
What’s truly amazing about well made Cubic Zirconia rings and other types of CZ jewelry is just how much they resemble diamond rings and other types of diamond jewelry. And yet, CZ pieces cost so very much less than their counterparts made with diamonds. In this tight economy, if you are interested in purchasing fine jewelry for someone you love or for yourself, Cubic Zirconia rings (or bracelets or earrings or necklaces) happen to be a great option.
As you probably know, CZ jewelry is available for purchase online and offline. Some people like to be able to try on jewelry before they actually purchase it, and that is totally understandable. But if you happen to know your ring size, and if you are totally comfortable with the idea of making purchases online, you may also want to consider purchasing Cubic Zirconia rings and other types of CZ jewelry online, though only from a reputable online retailer with a strong track record and excellent customer service. There are online retailers that specialize in selling jewelry (including CZ pieces) and other more general retailers that sell CZ items in their jewelry department. The choice, of course, is yours. Just make sure that whichever online retailer you choose offers fully secure ordering.
